THEN | 1993 - 2019In 1993 the Belize City Hospital was subject to intense public outcry due to overwhelming dissatisfaction with its stained hospital linens and inadequate in-house laundry system. In response to the public health crisis, the government of Belize asked the Belize Dry Cleaners Ltd. to submit a proposal to provide hygienically clean healthcare linens to the hospital, given its experience and resources in the laundry industry. This gave birth to what was first known as Belize Dry Cleaners' Hospital Laundry Department.
Since then, the department has grown from a single hospital contract to providing commercial laundry services for Belize hotels, resorts, clinics, and private and public hospitals. |
NOW | 2019 - PRESENTBy 2016 the department had outgrown its production footprint twice. The need to expand into its own facility, upgrade its equipment, and establish the department as its own company was imminent.
In 2019 the Belize Commercial Laundry and Linens (BCLL) was formed, and construction on its new state-of-the-art commercial laundry facility began next door to Belize Dry Cleaners. By February 2021, in the midst of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, BCLL moved into its new facility, offering a full array of top-quality and hygienically clean laundry and linen services for Belize's commercial sectors countrywide. |
OUR COMMUNITY
We continue to recognize the needs in our public healthcare system, giving back through donations and contributions as needs arise. This has included donations of anti-microbial pillows, scrubs, patient gowns, and care packages to our public hospitals, as well as annual contributions towards hospital staff activities and events. We provided free laundry services to the Cuban Brigade of 65 medical personnel during the Covid-19 Pandemic in Belize (2020-2021) and have provided free laundry services to the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) since 2005.
